Biography
Dave Thompson received his B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Colorado in 1994 and both M.S. and Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science from the University of Washington. At the University of Washington, he worked with Professor John M. Wallace on the analysis and diagnosis of large-scale climate variability and the interpretation of climate change. He joined the CSU Department of Atmospheric Science in January 2001. His current research focuses on improving our understanding of global climate variability using observational data. Other research interests include large-scale atmospheric dynamics, climate change, climate impacts, decadal climate variability, and ocean-atmosphere interactions. Dave's recent publications have contributed to our understanding of large-scale modes of month-to-month variability in the atmosphere and the signature of these modes in recent climate trends.
Other Research Interests
Global climate variability; Large-scale atmospheric dynamics; Ocean-atmosphere interaction; Climate impacts
