Ph.D. Biochemistry, Iowa State University, 1969

Years of service on this faculty: 30; initially on research faculty; joint appointment between chemical engineering and microbiology as Associate Professor in 1985; tenured Professor in 1997; Emeritus Professor in 2007

Post-docs at Botanisches Institut der Universität München (1969-1971) and at St. Louis University Medical School (1971-1972); research and development positions at Great Western Sugar Company (1972-1976) and Adolph Coors Company (1976).

Leaves of absence and sabbaticals at ETH Zürich, Technical University of Budapest, Universität Regensburg, Universität Basel, University of New Hampshire.

Teaching at workshops, Advanced Industrial Bioprocessing, 1996-2004, Estes Park, CO and Biotechnology for Industrial Utilization of Plants, 1999, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008 at LaMolina University in Lima, PERU.
