The Colorado Water Institute is pleased to announce the Request for Proposals for the FY10 Faculty Water Research Grant Program. The deadline for this RFP is December 18, 2009 at 5 PM (MT).

Research Policy for projects funded by the Colorado Water Institute

  • Facilities & Administrative (F&A):
    F&A costs are limited to 10% of total direct costs.
  • OMB Circular A-21 requires the distribution basis for recovering F&A to be modified total direct costs (MTDC). Therefore, F&A will be assessed against all items in the budget EXCEPT the following:
    • Capital expenditures (buildings, individual items of equipment, and alterations and renovations) of $5,000 or more and a useful life or more than one year
    • The portion of each subaward in excess of $25,000
    • Rental/maintenance of off-site activitites
    • Student tuition remission
    • Scholarship and fellowships
  • Eligibility:
    • Regular, full-time faculty at any of Colorado's public 4-year Universities.
    • All research must be conducted within the state of Colorado.
    • Investigators who have not met CWI reporting requirements or deliverables on a previous award are NOT eligible to apply for future funding.
  • Financial Policy:
    The PI is ultimately responsible for CWI-funded accounts. If the budget is over expended or expenditures were improperly charged, the PI and his/her department or college are responsible for providing funds for the unauthorized spending.
  • Reporting Policy:
    Funded projects will be required to submit an annual report, suitable for the Colorado Water newsletter, addressing the description of the problem, research objectives, methodology, principle findings and significance. In addition, The PI will be required to submit a completion report, within 90 days of the project end date, detailing project accomplishments, training provided, publications and impact. Principal Investigators may be asked to provide oral briefings to the CWI Advisory Committee, the Colorado Legislature, and the Colorado Water Congress. All project reports submitted must be in compliance with the CWI Procedural and Editorial Guidelines for Principal Investigators.
