Background:

Colorado State University, in collaboration with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the International Center for Integrated Water Resources Management (ICIWaRM) and the U.S. Department of State conducted a practitioner workshop on June 23-24, 2014 to prepare a synthesis of discussions about U.S. perspectives and lessons learned on the water-food-energy nexus. Key messages that the U.S. can contribute to the Nexus Dialogue on Water Infrastructure Solutions are summarized in the workshop report and proceedings.

Activities:

  • Workshop participants prepared a brief case study from their sector to aid in preparation of workshop dialogue papers
  • A background paper was prepared for the workshop to facilitate discussion and development of positions on key points
  • After the workshop, a final paper was developed for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the U.S. Department of State to draw on for international workshops
